Breaking Youth Silence.

The Breaking Youth Silence project addresses the high rate of unsafe abortions in Nkhotakota. The project aims to reduce these deaths by empowering the youth through education, storytelling, and improved coordination among SRHR stakeholders.

Through a gender-transformative and youth-led approach, the project focuses on:

  1. Delivering comprehensive SRHR education to youth through sensitization meetings, interactive radio programs, community campaigns, and communication materials promoting shared responsibility and informed decision-making.
  2. Strengthening grassroots coordination and hosting joint advocacy meetings with duty bearers to improve SRHR service delivery and accountability.
  3. Documenting lived experiences of AGYW who have faced early pregnancy and unsafe abortion, using evidence-based storytelling and interviews with community members and health workers.

By working with youth, community leaders, health workers, women’s groups, and local structures, the Breaking Youth Silence project is fostering a more open, informed, and supportive environment for young people to speak up, access services, and make safe reproductive choices.
